What's Happening at
Guinston:
- Spring Cleanup: Anyone available to help clean up around the
church can come out on May 3rd anytime between 7 AM and 3 PM. This is a
great way to contribute to the church's ministry.
- Annual Yard Sale: Guinston's annual yard sale at Leiphart Park, the
Lion's Club park on 74 just north of Stamper Road will be held on May 3rd.
- "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive: The National Association of
Letter Carriers will hold its "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive on Saturday May
10, 2008. If you would like to participate, please leave some
non-perishable food items at your mailbox that morning. Fifteen York
County food pantries will receive this food. Your participation is
appreciated by the families impacted. Thank You.
- Mother's Day Breakfast: May 11th is Mother's Day. The
youth group will be heading up a breakfast in celebration of mothers and women
mentors. See Tara with questions.
- Yard Sale Outreach: Guinston will have a stand at the
Collinsville Library Yard Sale on May 17th in order to get our faces out in
the public and invite others to join us in worshipping and serving God.
The table will have some items for sale, but it will also have information
about the church family. We are looking for friendly people to attend
the tables and be a welcoming influence to the community. If you are
interested please sign up in the vestibule.
- 50 Year Member Recognition: Guinston has had some very
special supporters who have been members of the congregation for over fifty
years. On May 18th, we will have a special service of thanks to these
50+ year members. A picture will be taken of these people immediately
after the worship service and we will be having a pot luck luncheon. Be
sure to join in this celebration.
- Men's Breakfast: May 24th Guinston with be hosting a "Men's
Breakfast" in our fellowship hall. This is open to all members and
regular attendees of Guinston and their guests. Please RSVP with either
Jimmy Barker or Dave Miller. Our guest speaker will be the Rev. Bob
Stier, Daniel's pastor growing up and a regular guest in our pulpit.
- Community Fun Day: New Harmony has scheduled a "Community
Fun Day"
fund raiser to support the Guinston Gutter's trips. On May 31st, they
will have children's games, food and merchandise for sale. They are
planning to have a dunking booth. You may have a chance to dunk your
favorite pastor!! Don't miss out. To help please contact Carol
Hopkins or Letra Baldwin.
- Camp Donegal 2008 brochures and registration forms can be picked up
in the vestibule. Camps are available for Grade K-12. The camp is
celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and lots of exciting activities
have been planned. Check it out!
- Can Collection: There is a box
in the narthex for all of us to collect soda cans. Cans will be turned
in for money, which will then be placed in a fund for new playground
equipment.
- Like to write short notes? We
need someone who would be willing to take a few minutes each week to write
short thank you notes to people who make contributions from outside the
church. This includes memorial contributions, Katrina donations, or
gifts for other causes. If you are interested please talk to Daniel or
Cheri Leiphart.
- New email address for bulletin
announcements: Nan has a new email address. If you have an
announcement you would like printed in the bulletin, please call her or send
her an email at nancylo1@verizon.net.
