Hurricane Katrina Outreach (The Guinston Gutters)

Like most of the country, Guinston was shocked and saddened by the destruction of Hurricane Katrina.  So, Guinston decided to send a mission team to the areas most greatly effected as a means to provide direct aid to the disaster victims.  At this time, Guinston formed the Guinston Gutters.  The Guinston Gutters consist of ordinary people giving a week of their time to travel to Louisiana and do the tedious work of debris clearance and house gutting.  Guinston has been able to make these efforts a success through the assistance, facilitation and coordination of the John Calvin Presbyterian Church in Metairie, LA as well as Jefferson Presbyterian Church.  Through this work, Guinston has been able to reach out and help one family at a time with rebuilding their homes and in turn their lives.

If you are interested in becoming a Guinston Gutter, would like to support this effort through a monetary donation, or would like to learn more please contact the church as described on the Contact and Service Information page or contact Walter Blumenfeld at electroptin@msn.com

The Gutters have a local repair in the York Area planned to occur within the next couple of weeks.  Also, a trip to Nashville, TN in mid-October is planned for a home restoration.  If you wish to volunteer your services or have further questions please contact Walter and Sue Blumenfeld.

Please be in prayer as the team travels and serves in this powerful and ongoing way.
