Next Meeting:  TBD

13 April 2008:  Rick Orwick presented copies of the estimate he received from a local commercial contractor.  The estimate was higher than anticipated.  Subgroups were formed to further assess both a current building addition as well as a separate fellowship hall.  The goal of these subgroups is to better define the design, addressing tradeoffs and must haves, and to gain additional estimates.  Tracy and Diane are continuing their budget establishment effort moving towards a finalized initial working budget.

16 March 2008:  The primary focus of this meeting was the review of the land survey results.  The committee was pleasantly surprised by the amount of room available for growth.  After reviewing the land survey the committee reviewed conceptual plans previously provided by Steve Gobat.  Rick Orwick took the task of producing a rough cost estimate based on these plans.  This estimate will help us determine what tradeoffs we may need to make as we move forward with the design process.  Also, building budget establishment was discussed.  Tracy and Diane have been working hard on this task and brought some questions to the committee that will need answered for them to finalize their work.  Dan Barker took the action of pursuing answers to their questions.

10 February 2008:  The Building Committee met this morning for a very useful meeting.  Steve Gobat provided his findings regarding green space restrictions.  Rick Orwick provided the land survey status.  Given the Session's recent approval of this land survey expense, the conduct of this survey will occur within the next 1-2 weeks.  Tracy Flinchbaugh and Diane Neff volunteered to lead the Building Committee's budget development effort.  Lengthy discussions occurred involving an initial target for the number of people we wish our future facilities to accommodate.

20 January 2008:  Meeting discussions included the following.  Vernon Menges provided a sheet outlining all potential funds that may be used for future building projects.  Dan Barker presented the facility needs survey results.  These results will be used help prioritize facility needs and will be used as a evaluation tool when assessing future building design options.  Dan Barker asked the rest of the committee and Pastor Moore to provide to him, by the end of the week,  the number of people they would like future facilities to accommodate.  Other discussions involved green space concerns, pursuit of additional land, the upcoming land survey, and the development of a building budget.

6 January 2008:  The Building Committee held a brief meeting this morning.  Rick Orwick presented 2 estimates he received from contractors for the land survey.  One more estimate will be received.  A surveyor will be chosen at the next meeting.  Vernon Menges presented the status of his & Maynard Parlett's work in which they are pursuing the status of all funds which may be used for future building projects.  Dan Barker provided the committee with a survey the members of the committee and Pastor Moore can use to rate current facility needs at Guinston.  Dan Barker will compile the results from these surveys to develop an overarching needs prioritization.  This prioritization of needs will be used to help define what problems we are trying to solve with a future building project.

16 December 2007:  The Building Committee (BC) held its first full meeting today.  Dan Barker provided the group with copies of the Growth Committee's final congregational presentation.  In addition, the BC was provided with a synopsis of the Growth Committee questionnaire responses, a growth projection sheet and BC member contact sheets.  The committee spent a significant amount of time discussing how many people they would want future facilities to accommodate.  The committee agreed that a survey of the Guinston property is needed.  Brian McCleary and Rick Orwick took this action.  Vernon Menges and Maynard Parlett will contact the Guinston treasurer, Cheri Leiphart, to gain a full and updated outline of all Guinston funding and assets.  The next meeting was scheduled for 6 January 2008.

9 December 2007:  A brief meeting was called by Pastor Moore to kick off the Building Committee.  Dan Barker was elected chair and the next meeting was scheduled.
